Loving kindness
Loving kindness
Body
Close our
eyes gently and softly. The soft light may enter but not the picture. Place our
hands comfortably on our lap with the right hand on the left one. Please sit
straight with the neck and the back straight on the same straight line. If we
sit straight, we will control our awareness of the mind firmly.
Adjust our
whole body to make sure we are comfortable. We may imagine we are alone and sitting
in a field of grass on a mountain. The green color of the field of grass
contrasts with the blue color of the sky in the morning which is so beautiful.
We may feel that the fresh morning air on the mountain moves in every single
cell of our body. This makes us feel relaxed and comfortable throughout our
entire body. When our body is relaxed, it is easy to relax our mind.
Mind
The proper
mind for meditation has to be free from anxiety. It must be neutral. Our mind
has to be free from positive and negative emotions. Temper will make us negative
and our mind will not be neutral. The Meditation Master suggests that the way
to calm our emotional mind is to allow the mind to touch at the centre of our
body. This is the place where our body and mind are balanced. If we place our
mind at this position, our mind will be calm, and our body will be relaxed and
comforted automatically.
Introducing centre
For
the beginners may not know where the centre of the body is. We may assume the
body centre by following the in-breath. At the end or turning point of the
in-breath, it is the centre of the body. Now we may imagine that it is empty with
no organ inside our abdomen. Please breathe deeply, and allow the mind to touch
at the end of the breath or the centre of the body. Please touch softly and
gently.
Keeping and confirming the centre
We may convince our mind any time to
remain at the centre of our body by following the in-breath. Allow the mind to
touch at any time at the end of the breath. Please touch softly and gently.
We
maintain the awareness of the mind to stay in touch with the centre of the
body. If we touch the body centre more softy and gently, the peace energy will
flow more and more from there. Please touch softly and gently, softly and gently.
Now,
our mind is calmer. We may feel more peace energy at the centre of the body. Any
time, when our mind returns to our body centre, we will feel peaceful and
happy. We will forget moody and gloomy feelings. We will have more love and compassion.
Our body and mind will be purified until our whole body is the body of peace
and joy.
We may
feel/ that the peace energy at our body centre is getting richer and stronger,
as it radiates outwards in all directions beyond our physical body, covering
the entire meditation room.
Loving kindness
Now
our mind is full of peace energy. Peace energy is the energy of love and
compassion. Our feeling of peace energy radiates outwards in all directions and
touches other sentient beings with love, compassion, loving kindness and good
wishes. If sentient beings are suffering, then the peace energy will make them
suffer less. If sentient beings are suffering not that much, then the peace
energy will free them. If sentient beings are happy, then the peace energy will
make them happier. We shall keep expanding the feeling of peace. Allow peace
energy radiate infinitely.
Ending
Now we will slowly withdraw from centre space. But we
withdraw only the five physical senses. Yet the mind and the feeling of love
and compassion could be confirmed over here inside.
We may hear the noise
outside. We may feel the temperature outside. We may feel some pain. And
finally…the last thing… we slowly open our eyes and see the world that
surrounds.
